Contrllr Unveil v2

over 9 years ago from , Web & UI Designer

SECOND POST due to the fact you can't bloody edit posts. Kinda silly but meh.

My new side-project Contrllr is coming along smoothly, and I'm looking for critique and feedback on the homepage that I've done. This is a first stab at the design, and would welcome any feedback on the layout, colours, imagery etc.

Contrllr will be a community very similar to how Letterboxd have set their site up, but focused on games instead. There's plenty of gaming sites out there, where the final site is a mix of all things. Contrllr plans to be a site where you can review games, makes lists, share your game progress, import from XBL, PSN and Steam for achievements and game lists, and more.

The dark design suits the gaming genre better I think. The general structure of the site seems ok to me. What does recent games mean? Is that the games played recently, games reviewed recently, games added recently?

For gaming - something that's high tech - the font choice might make it look a bit dated and thus less modern.

One small thing that's throwing me off are those yellow-ish dividers: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3l95k8t9rbgo2ul/Screenshot%202014-04-04%2017.54.53.png. Have you tried using a slightly lighter form of the background color instead?

I think it could do with some more whitespace between sections as well - depending on the amount of screen real estate you're allowed to use.

It might be good to list some incentives. Why would I want to review games and share the games I play? Mind you, I'm not a gamer myself so if the ability to do so is enough for your audience it is not a problem.
