I would love to be part of this. I have tons of product ideas—a lot of them with initial concepts, roadmaps and monetization strategies in place—but as a designer, I need someone technical to bring these projects to life!
I've used Builditwith.me, and to this day get the odd inquiry, but it's really old and no-longer supported (I don't think) :/
How do we sign up?
PS. It goes without saying that if you're technical and looking to hack on some cool projects (iOS/Mac/Web), get at me!
http://meeet.co to sign up for news and updates.
Thanks, I saw the link, but I don't see anywhere to sign-up? Or is the project still early?
Thanks for the interest! We're still collecting a userbase to send invites out to, but for now you can just click the "Stay Updated" button on the site or subscribe on http://eepurl.com/PRf9L. :)
You can sign up for updates, sorry I wasn't more clear.
Full launch will be in June.
Just did a little bit of googling. There is already a few of these in the market. You better think about a way to make this unique or better.

ps.: The last one is so Web 2.0 it hurts but it's technically the same concept.
Yep! We have quite a few unique ideas that I have yet to see from other meetup sites. :)
An excellent point.
Two things we're addressing that they aren't:
Collab unfortunately only supports Facebook login. Another pitfall is way that projects are displayed. They already have designs. Not everyone is a designer or has access to well designed graphics early on. This is going to be text only. While it has a ton of content, not all of it is good. We're going to keep members responsible for not only who they invite, but the projects they start. Part of this is a function of the scope of the site, anyone in just about any field is welcome. This is very specific to the web community.
BuildItWithMe is a bit old now (2009) and shares some of the same issues as Collab in that it has an overwhelming quantity of ideas/projects. Support for the site has also tapered off, as has the activity of the Twitter account. Drew has a lot of other awesome projects going on though. This was certainly successful for a period of time and is still active in terms of posting, though I cannot attest to how effective members have been.
http://sidekicks.io/ does the same thing. There's nothing on the website now. But this was on DN a couple of months back. It was also based on the concept of selective pool of candidates.
I guess we'll just have to ship before them!
Very interested in how this turns out. I think one of the hardest things is getting a stakeholder to drive the project over time.
Thanks! We plan to solve that problem.
