Also works with with grouping in case you want to throw in an icon in the button. Just name the group as you would do the individual layers

Very nice, and seemingly extremely quick. My initial gut reaction is that renaming the layer to a series of digits messes with my layer naming conventions and makes it arduous to visually scan the layer tree and know what you're searching for. "8:20:12:20" on it's own doesn't help vs "my name is kevin".
But great work, and certainly a plugin worth installing and trying.

  As you can see in the above screenshot, put it in a new group and rename that group to whatever you desire.
