This is great to see. Well presented, short and to the point. It should help a lot of people struggling with RWD.
It doesn't follow mobile-first methodology though, which is a concern. It's not a good idea to start people off on the wrong foot.
Mobile-first is not a silver bullet. It all depends on the needs of your site.
That goes without saying. There are no silver bullets. In the example provided, a mobile-first approach would make a lot of sense.
Ah — I didn't read down the whole way and missed the mobile part at the end. You're 100% right, if the author expects people to visit the site using mobile phones it should definitely not be the last step :)
Wow this is really nice. Easy to read and to understand and without all the buzzwords & frameworks regarding todays front-end development. It is a reminder that you don't need Bootstrap, Sass, Compass or whatever to build responsive websites.
This is brilliant, Adam. I'm immediately sending it out to all our students/alumni @MakerSquare. Reminds me of the simplicity and effectiveness of the Duckett book on HTML/CSS.
Dopesauce.
This is great - I've got a handfull of friends and acquaintances who are making their start in web design and introducing them to basic html and then throwing responsive techniques into the mix is always difficult, but I'm definitely going to point them to this from now on.
Could move to inline-block as opposed to floats and also the markup could be leaner. But I agree, a good beginners guide well done.
This is so great. Nice work!
I was looking for exactly this over the weekend! Very good, I love how he combines the rationale and how-to guide.
Bookmarked! We need more tutorials as simple as this one.
I love this example but I'd love to see a similar explanation bridging this with Sass to abstract the class names and make my code more semantic. Also, nesting.
Lovely! Well explained with simple examples. I'm sure this will be helpful for a lot of people!
