Seems like some pretty unjustified arguments to me. IT'S ACCEPTABLE BECAUSE IT REALLY ISN'T TRYING TO BE A LEATHER BOOK, EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE ONE. Cool writing bro.

I 100% agree with his points. The whole discussion around skeuomorphism is wrong and dangerous. Basically, he saying that textures and rich graphics enhance the experience and for the first time, most users have devices capable of rendering it well. We shouldn't be acting like there is some blanket approach to design. Textures and real world design reference work very well in some cases and others not. Its a semantic argument that is honestly not pushing the industry forward, IMO.

    I totally agree.

Skeuomorphic vs Flat is yet another stupid internet argument that will never be settled.

Seriously, people, can't there be more than one way to design something? Some people prefer heavy textures and depth and some people prefer light and simple aesthetics.

Of course designers abuse shitty looking textures all the time. And of course, lots of designers abuse "flat design".

Practice both and learn to apply each in where it's most appropriate. That's what I'm trying to learn and hope that it'll make me a better designer.
