Good writing experience? I prefer Byword http://bywordapp.com

+1 for WriteRoom. If you publish your writing on the web, Medium.com also has a great text-focused experience. Notepad, TextEdit, or your plain text editor of choice in full screen would do the trick as well, especially if you bump up the text size and pick a font you like.

For me, picking an app or tool isn't the hard part - getting into the habit of writing regularly is.

Currently use Sublime Text 2 in distraction-free-mode so I don't have to switch editors al of the time on the Mac. Editorial on the iPad & WriteRoom on the iPhone.

Pretty much any editor that can go into a full screen distraction-free mode so I can type words is good with me ;-) Been happy with iA Writer, Bean, WriteRoom, PlainText & draftin.com in the past.

Hell - the latest Word has a decent distraction free mode.

For me getting in the habit of typing words is the hardest bit. The tool is pretty much incidental.
