Any ideas on a really good GDPR complain cookie policy add-on?

almost 3 years ago from , Digital Product Designer

I've been googling around a bit and have found a few solutions like Cookiebot and Osano and some other random ones, but either they are clunky or they aren't actually GDPR compliant.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Don’t store cookies. No cookies means no GDPR cookie issues.

You need it to notify even if you aren't collecting cookies, since it's required even for any form of site analytics as well and even more so if you want to keep your users logged in to the platform, just like DN.

So a cookie to keep a user logged in, requires consent. But the checkbox "Keep me logged in" is appropriate to gain consent. So in your case you do not need to display a cookie banner.

Thanks for sharing that. I did check around a little bit but the GDPR unfortunately also requires a consent banner even if you use Google Analytics, which I am. :( And that's something I would like to still have, else I would have no visibility on what's going on on my website. So although I'm not collecting any cookies for advertising or marketing it seems like I can't escape that banner :(

We ended up just removing analytics completely. It’s honestly been freeing! It means we’re better in terms of privacy, and there’s one less thing to check and manage.

I found one solution called https://www.iubenda.com/en/ which I'm going to try. If it's worth it, I might SHOW it on DN for everyone.
