That new cursor is super interesting, I wonder if it would ever come to mac. Curious how it works in a browser
yeah. Being unable to know the precise position is fatal for professional usage. I hope Apple can provide a better solution
I have a previous gen iPad Pro and absolutely love it. The performance is staggering.
My comment, however, is just to pause for a second to marvel at how far the web experience has come. Scrolling through that page I'm blown away by what we (you guys!) can and are doing natively in browser. It is amusing how blasé we are to this stuff nowadays. RWD just 5 or 6 years and this page would have been winning awards and blowing our collective minds. Bravo
Why do we need better cameras on an iPad?
All the better for them to see you with.
So parents can get better footage at dance recitals
I guess it's just a marketing strategy. they have to make enough "upgrades"
The real question is why is apple still cheaping out on laptop cameras. The $400 Surface Go camera makes MacBook Pros look janky as hell
When Apple launched the iPad then Microsoft launched the Surface, it seemed Microsoft was being ridiculious, why would a touch screen device need a keyboard and a pen and a file system and real software.
and here we are 10 years later and every year Apple just makes the iPad step closer and closer to the vision of the Surface.
Seems Microsoft was right all along.
the 11"model ($800) with keyboard ($300) will cost you $1100.
the 13" macbook air costs $1000.
In my opinion, purchase is justified by intended usage vs price at this point. I shifted to working on a Mac Mini since my MBP can no longer handle the tools i use for development, so it essentially sits around until I need it for a meeting or something.
I use my older iPad Pro far more than my laptop to browse the web on top of illustrating in Procreate. I'm looking forward to trading in my iPad and MBP towards this. I'll get an updated iPad (no more fearing my Apple Pencil breaking while charging in the lightning port...) and an even more lightweight "laptop" to carry to meetings and such.
Does anyone have an idea onhow it will work with Figma or other browser based design tools?
Ooh, I didn't think about this. Even design tools with mouse support like Affinity Designer. Counting down the days to March 24th now.
It seems like Figma might work in iPadOS now, at least from what I've seen on Twitter. There's some restrictions regarding font and stuff like that, but I guess that could be overcome somehow :)
Great example! I look forward to seeing how design might change with more “natural” devices like the iPad. I bought the new iPad Pro in 2018 hoping to use it more in visual design but I’ve mainly used it to sketch out ideas and help facilitate remote Design Sprints.
Oh you don't need Figma to create professional designs on iPad, check out Vectornator instead! It's a free vector graphic design software for iPadOS
Thanks for sharing this Anna.
More cameras, why, whyyyy?
Bought an iPad Pro last year and I've used it so many times. Running research from it was much much easier than a laptop (capturing video/audio, compiling notes, and then shooting those in to a Confluence or Notion was easy).
I've also loved using Procreate to sketch out ideas. I still prefer a whiteboard, but I'm getting climatized to a virtual whiteboard, too.
Looking sweet. Especially the cursor.
