Best home for design community?

3 years ago from , Founder

Hey guys,

We are in the middle of creating a user community for our online design service (finally).

Slack/Reddit/Discourse/Spectrum/Fb/Custom forum/Telegram/.../

What is the best place for it? What do you prefer? What are the best UX/UI products communities you are part of?

Great thanks! Paul

Personally, I like Facebook groups. I'm in a few FB groups and it's easy to use, most people have FB, and it has a lot of features.

The downside is some people want to remain anonymous.

Yeah, but there is something like disorganized structure and issues with search.

True, but which of the suggested options above is better? Reddit is just as bad, or maybe even worse than FB at those IMO.

Ya, but then you would need a Facebook account.

I’ve really enjoyed Spectrum for tools like Figma.

Thanks! Strange that they limited the ways of signing up: only with Github account. Some kind of strange limitation.

I believe Github bought Spectrum. As I understand it, all premium features are now free because of the acquisition.

Yes, but to create Spectrum account you should create additional Github. Double registration for new users, looks like hard UX.

I don't think this is the question you need to be asking. You should ask, why people look for these communities and what function they perform for them. If you have that answer, you will automatically have the answer for this question here.

Agree. The community around our product already exists, so we answered the original question. Now it's up to the technology, to find a public place to move communications from our online support.

I was looking for the same thing the other day, I only found this one https://discord.gg/7UHMB63 it's pretty new but I some more people joined it could be good.

    Take care.
