    Dear good people at DN,

    For several years, we kept CoBeats out of the ​limelight​.

    We always wanted to make a product that people enjoy using it, and we thought people would come if we do good shit.

    That's why we never publicly released or advertised CoBeats. There were some fear also involved - Is our product ready? Will people like it? CoBeats Inc. is a small and profitable venture. Our objective is not to build a BILLION DOLLAR company which seems to be becoming a trend these days, what we are doing here is building a community of people who really need what we have built.

      Our main business comes from a business version of CoBeats, where we have taken what we have in CoBeats and then added discussions, tasks, meeting notes and calendar.

      CoBeats doesn't cost us much. Plus it brings users to our business product which is paid.

      Hope it answers your question. I suggest you read Our Promise. We're a different kind of company.

          I can understand. It's hard to believe new companies. Everyone is trying to be a sell-out these days. We created CoBeats because of this only. We were using Clipboard, Kippt, Snip it before it. All of them were backed by great investors. Kippt by YC, Snip it by Khosla Ventures. But they all closed in the process of becoming big and our data was lost, gone forever or sat in a JSON format. We want you to trust us, but we know that like all relationships this will also build slowly. Do try our product.

            I appreciate your effort, can understand where you come from, and sincerely hope you can keep your "promises". Though, you know what they say: "To do well is better than to mean well."

            As a user, the one thing that would make me use another such bookmarking tool would be complete control of the data, and being sure the presenting app can also be always accessed.

            Practically, this means: Being able to download my data not just anytime as JSON, XML, etc ... but also as self containing HTML files, like an offline webapp. Also, your solution should not only offer on a web version that can be sunset anytime, but offer system apps that are standalone and can be accessed anytime without login and even when the online infrastructure behind it is not active anymore (local data cache).

            Last but not least, the best way to ensure a product has longevity and is trustworthy is to open source it, allowing anyone to work on it and maintain it. Basiclly, as long as people use it, people will maintain it.

            So I guess, the best bookmarking tool would be an open source one - with premium features (closed repo) to ensure revenue, or a patreon like system.

            I think you should seriously consider a self-containing open source version, (you can still keep the colaborative version private) if you truly want to keep your promises and want people to trust you. There's just too much scorched earth in this app category.

              The things that you mentioned are in our plan for the next 2-3 months. However, we are little hesitant to make it open-source as our other businesses rely on the tech that we have built within CoBeats. But we will definitely have a look.

              You will have to definitely try out CoBeats to see how it does one thing and it does it really well. I assure that we will be up and running for the next decade, and will work towards it.

    Are there plans to add a Firefox extension? Currently it looks like you only support Chrome and Safari. How about mobile? I need to save things for later on my phone far more often then when I'm on my laptop or desktop, which is why Pocket is so useful.

    The extension seems to working fine in Chrome for me but I'm having trouble getting it to stay logged in using Brave. Totally understand if there isn't bandwidth to take a look but generally Chrome extensions work fine in Brave.

    Always looking for a better way to keep track of bookmarks and inspiration!

    How does CoBeats compare with Raindrop.io and why should I make the switch? Is there a way I can move my hundreds of links to CoBeats?

      We have built an excellent parser for CoBeats. Raindrop is still a bookmarking service. However, we take the best part of the webpages - like full article without ads from news sites, videos from YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion, full cartoon from XKCD or images from Flickr and Instagram. You will have to use it to know the beauty of it. Also, we have integrated with IMDB, iTunes, Soundcloud, Goodreads and several other services to grab just the most essential data behind those links.

      This allows better search, discovery and collaboration. Our Chrome and Safari extension - Uploader also lets you take full-page screenshots or just a part of the screenshot and directly upload to CoBeats.

      Apart from this, we have also support for files - both Dropbox and Google Drive and rich text notes.
