We've hired Accenture for a similar scale project and had a very similar experience where our legal teams had to get involved. =(

I am not in the consulting or agency space, but if you embark on a large product redesign, how could you not enforce some kind of design system for your own sanity?

"The specs called for a common core of libraries to be "a fundamental principle of the design"... Accenture, well, completely ignored that, according to Hertz."

"the defects in the front end development code were so pervasive that all of Accenture’s work on that component had to be scrapped." (It was using Angular 2.)"

You need people leading the project who understand the value of a design system. This sometimes isn't the case.

Never hire a huge generic consulting firm for a technology / design project.

Accenture also failed to test the software, Hertz claimed, and when it did do tests "they were seriously inadequate, to the point of being misleading." It didn't do real-world testing, we're told, and it didn’t do error handling.

This is how companies (like Hertz here) will be loosing confidence in design thinking, design systems, designers themselves, etc.

Honestly not surprised. Seen this a handful of times just at places I've worked. TCS is the worst offender in my experience

I wonder if consulting firms use any kind of iterative approach. A lot of these problems could have been caught in the first few months of the project.
