Would love your feedback on a job hunting tool I’ve been working on: RMTWRK

Hello Designer News community!

I’ve been working on a side project over the past few months called RMTWRK. It’s an aggregator that pulls in remote job listings from all over the internet (using various API integrations, rss feeds, and scrapers) and makes them easier to browse. By bringing all the jobs to one site, job seekers can skip the hassle of jumping from job board to job board.

I’m guessing many of you could be part of the target audience for a tool like this, so your feedback would be extremely valuable to hear.

What do you think of the overall utility? Is it something you would find value in? What features would you like to see included?

Is the site intuitive and easy to navigate? I want to make sure it’s as usable as possible.

What are your thoughts on the brand? The intention was to make it very minimal (while still having a little bit of an edge) as it will need to step out of the way when we begin to include functionality for companies to include their own logos and such.

I really appreciate the consideration and any feedback you all are willing to share!

    Congratulations Andrew in the launch.

    In terms of suggestions, I would like to have the possibility to choose between a daily and a weekly digest

      Yeah, I can see that being a good improvement. Seems like weekly could work really well for someone who is maybe not actively hunting for a job day-to-day, but just wants to stay on top of what opportunities are out there.

    A great filter to incorporate would be level of experience! I'm no longer on the junior side, but remember being incredibly frustrated having to sift through more senior job listings to find anything that was applicable to my experience.

    Honestly, when I saw your post I was super skeptical -- there's a ton of sites that pop up every day doing the same thing. This however is very well executed. Looking forward to watching it grow!

      Makes total sense. I think one of the big differentiators is that it is free to post a job so incentives are better aligned between job seekers who want to see all the possible remote jobs out there and companies who need those people.

      Thanks for taking a look!

      My co-founder and I do a bit of work on the posts that come in to drive consistency, manually verifying each of them and touching up how the posts are formatted.

      We plan on sticking with a user-first approach as we build out features, focusing on improving the experience of managing multiple ongoing job searches and active applications.

    The filter is a bit awkward on a very wide screen. I'd pin it closer to the content rather than the left edge. I'd also bound the nav within a max-width, but less important.

      Yeah, good call. It may be worth limiting the entire ui to a max-width to help at those really wide window sizes.

    For me, I love that you can combine a category with job type like contact work. You can't do that on most remote work websites.

      Thanks Gavin! We are hoping to get more contract opportunities on the site over time, and incorporate other filters like Time Zone that could be helpful for filtering. Any suggestions you might have?

    Great work! Would love to see the ability to see the details of each job without having to go back & forth between the index list. allow for paging between jobs. switch to an "inbox" layout where the list is a column and then adjacent to it is a content area for the selected job?

      I really like that idea, Gerrie. Would absolutely help with the task of sorting through multiple job posts.
