damn...one of my 1st jobs in the industry was colorizing and repairing old photographs... we'd get an old photo of someone's grandparents type of thing, sometimes half destroyed by water or otherwise ruined...we'd have to redraw parts of it, add color....basically travel back in time and re-take the photo lol....

did that for about 6-8 months.... it was AMAZING training in many ways. 1st, in order to be profitable, you had to complete the job (whatever it was) in about 1 hour. So, you learned to be almost super-human fast at photoshop. 2nd) you had to have some illustration skills...if someone's nose had been half torn off in the photo for example, you had to be able to replicate it, repair it, make it look like it was perfect etc...

and now, here we are, all these years later... and we've got things like this.

in someways, it makes me sad, that others will never have to learn the 'hard' way etc...

in other ways, it's just how things go.... i recall that I used to see 'traditional' photo re-touchers, and they kinda were pissed off with how we were doing everything in photoshop, when they'd been trained to do it with paint... (and yep...i saw them work... and it was incredible.... they were AMAZING artists)
