Keep isn't going anywhere. Not sure about inbox either, but there certainly needs something to happen with both clients. A merge or a drop of one of them. My complaint with inbox is the expanding email lists take forever and are buggy to close.
Google has a major problem with their product alignment. They are all over the place and internally it has to be even more of a nightmare.
In regards to Inbox bugginess... any chance that you are using Firefox? If so, try it on Chrome and it is relatively more snappy.
I use chrome 95% of the time. So ya. It's def. buggy/laggy for me no matter what machine I'm on.
