Google has removed the 'view image' button from search results

      I haven't even realized the button disappeared. I've been always using the right click.

      Doing that opens the image at the thumbnail resolution. So it's not quite the same thing.

        You need to click the image first to open the larger version underneath - I thought that was a given.

        Obviously you will get a thumbnail if you try and open google's thumbnail in a new tab!

          Clicking the image first still shows it a lower resolution. For example, if an image is actually 4k resolution at the hosted site, Google might only show it at like 720px width when you click the thumbnail.

          When you right click to open in new tab, you will get the 720px size, not the original 4k size. Hope that makes more sense.
