Aubrey- always can count on you for great feedback- thank you! Responding to a couple items here that are within my purview:
We tried a few different options on the masking implementation. We originally had this as a fill like our Unsplash implementation (in Data plugin) but it becomes difficult to crop or re-center stock when you take this approach. For landscapes, architecture, and similar thats not a problem with the fill approach, but when you get into portraiture or specific focal regions, re-positioning becomes more crucial. Hence the approach we took here- hope that makes sense.
We hear you on the many updates- we've been actively playing with some alternate solutions here. Hopefully our eagerness to iterate and improve shows through in this but we agree its not a stellar experience when you'r getting multiple updates in a short window of time. Updates within a given timeframe will be bundled in the future as we play with time tolerances for popping these to users. Its always a balance of wanting to make sure users have the latest and greatest while not becoming 'overeager' in the process and fatiguing folks. Duly noted- will up-level to the team.
