    I'm curious to know, does anyone actually use Skype in that way? - like keep it open all day and chat with people on it? I only ever open Skype when I've organised a phone call with my parents lol.

      That's probably the core issue that they've identified (mainly only used for scheduled calls/meeting) and this is their way of getting users to engage with the product more frequently.

        Yeah good point. I personally find the idea of yet another messaging app that begs for people's regular attention utterly exhausting, but hey what can ya do, people wanna make their money right? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
