Speak for yourself because that's not me.
Yeah I edited it to 95%. It's an exaggeration obviously. Thankfully the industry is not entirely homogenous. But pretty damn close. That's the point the point of the comment.
Where are you getting your data that there isn't enough diversity in the industry?
Hmm, it's pretty obvious if you've gone to any design meetup, conference, or browsed Dribbble and the design slack channels.
Yes, that's anecdotal. I'd honestly love to see data that proves otherwise if you have it.
Ya, entirely anecdotal, which isn't a great basis to make sweeping generalizations. I'd love to see some data as well showing what the disparity is if one exists.

Keep in mind that those are % of people working in all areas of the companies listed, not just tech. If you take Facebook for example - there's a much larger gender disparity between people working in tech than in other areas: http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2015/06/driving-diversity-at-facebook/
I believe the industry is DESIGN, not TECH.
We need to encourage proportionate representation of gender in all areas then, I would say. Tech happens to be mostly male, while teaching and nursing happens to be mostly female. Perhaps we could implement hiring requirements for gender based on the demographics in each state?

Designer News is a large, global community of people working or interested in design and technology.
Have feedback?
It's not just Designer News. The whole industry is super homogenous. And this is coming from me - a white male, glasses wearing hipster like 95% of the rest of you.
Any efforts to diversify the industry will annoy the incumbents. It's natural (and hilarious as this blog shows) for those in power to resist change.
We have to keep an open mind, swallow our pride, and at all costs avoid being defensive. We all know the industry needs new perspectives. And if that means I get passed over because I'm not adding diversity (and the other candidate is qualified), so be it. Something's gotta give.
