One thing my wife and I have done since we’ve gotten married that has really helped us is having a dedicated, no-excuse date night once a week—we get a baby sitter and go out for at least 1.5 hrs. If we have baby-sitter issues or just can't leave the kids alone (i.e. having a newborn), we morph it into a family date night.

Thumbs up on a weekly date night, Jonathan. We're not as good as we should be, but we also try to get out each week. Saturday we saw the Sarasota Orchestra together, although it's pretty rare we do something that substantial.

Seeing an orchestra is a great idea!—will definitely note that for a future date. Our dates are usually nothing elaborate as well—going out for dinner, then going shopping for clothing or something for the home at a Home Depot or Lowes, or stopping for dessert on the way home—but it’s wonderful to get to spend a few moments alone and talk without kids
